Independent Living Community Services (ILCS) is a non-profit organization committed to providing supportive services that promote independence to the elderly in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, Florida. Established in 2003, the organization leverages Independent Living System’s (ILS) unique aging programs to service frail, ill and/or underprivileged community seniors.
ILCS currently provides management, health and long-term social services support for the Ward Tower Senior Housing Facility, located in Miami, Florida. ILCS provides an array of services to the more than 1,000 members of the Ward Tower Senior Center, who live either on the housing campus or in the surrounding community, in coordination with the local Area Agency on Aging, the Alliance for Aging.
ILCS has also integrated a strong health promotion and disease prevention component to its long-term care services. This includes implementing evidence-based, bilingual programs at Ward Tower Senior Center focused on chronic disease self-management. The organization’s goal is to soon implement diabetes-specific management programs with registered dietitians, in response to the high prevalence of the condition ILCS has identified in the community.
